🔧 How We Do a Brake Job in Your Driveway
A standard brake pad replacement takes us about 1.5 hours per axle. Here's what we do on every one — including the steps that get skipped when a job is rushed:
- Check wear on both sides. Pads should wear evenly left and right. Uneven wear usually means a sticking caliper or slide pin, and we tell you before we replace anything.
- Clean and grease everything that moves. Slide pins and pad contact points get proper brake grease. Skip this and new brakes can start squeaking within weeks.
- Install good quality pads — as close to OEM as we can get. Cheap pads are the other main reason brakes get noisy fast.
- Torque and test. Lug nuts go back on to spec, and we pump the pedal and check the brakes before we leave.
Pads + Rotors: About 2.5 Hours per Axle
When rotors are replaced, the pads get replaced too — new pads need a fresh, flat surface to bed into. Rotors that have been on a car for years can be seriously stuck to the hub. We free them by tapping between the wheel studs in a star pattern, using the built-in threaded holes that some rotors have to press them off, and — as a last resort — heat.
The reason rotors get that stuck is simple: whoever installed them skipped anti-seize on the hub. We clean the hub surface and apply anti-seize every time, so your next brake job is easy.
When a Brake Job Takes Longer
Brake jobs go sideways when a caliper bolt is rusted in or a nut strips — Florida humidity doesn't help. That can turn a 1.5-hour job into 3 hours. We handle it on-site and always tell you before anything about your job changes.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How much does mobile brake repair cost in Clermont FL?
Brake pad replacement starts at $250 per axle. Pads plus rotors start at $400 per axle. Price depends on your vehicle type. Use our free calculator for an exact estimate.
How do I know if I need new brakes?
Listen for squealing or grinding when braking, feel for vibration in the pedal, or notice your vehicle pulling to one side. If your brake warning light is on, call us immediately.
Can you replace brakes at my home in Clermont?
Yes — we perform complete brake jobs at your driveway or workplace. We bring all tools and quality parts to your location.
How long does a mobile brake job take?
Brake pads take about 1.5 hours per axle, and pads plus rotors about 2.5 hours per axle. Rusted or stripped hardware can add time — we will tell you before anything changes.
Can you do the job the same day?
Often, yes. Our listed prices are based on parts we order online, which usually arrive in 2–5 days. If you need it done the same day, we pick up parts from a local parts store instead. Those parts can cost up to twice as much, so we quote you both options and you choose.
Do you do brakes on trucks and SUVs?
Yes. We do brakes on cars, SUVs and light trucks. Bigger vehicles use bigger pads and rotors, so the price is a little higher; text or call with your year, make and model for a quote.
